The land is the centre of spirituality for indigenous Australians, so when Bourke High School students were asked to write their own song they chose to highlight their connection to country.
It's Home is a catchy, country music song that shows the students' appreciation of the landscape of Bourke and includes the lyrics: "It's home. My connection, my soul, my start. It's home."
The students were assisted by student support officer, Mary-Kate Ferguson, a former studio musician, and music teacher Heath Philips.
It's Home was recorded by local radio station 2CuzFM, which plays it regularly to the community.
Bourke High School is hoping to repeat the song project each year with a new group of students.
